Nevada Scholarships

Some of the deadlines may be from prior years. Scholarship deadlines are cyclical, so even if a deadline has passed, the website will likely be updated for the 2023-24 cycle. January

This supports graduating high school seniors with a 3.4 GPA, of any ethnic or cultural background, who plan to attend an accredited college or university (2-year and 4-year) in fall through various scholarship awards. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and must be residents of states that the inspirASIAN program supports. The states include: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. This awards $20,000 in scholarships. In order to be eligible, applicants must have previously been diagnosed with cancer, want to attend a U.S. college or graduate school, and have a household income of less than $150,000 per year.The deadline to apply is January 31st. Learn more here.

This awards $1,200. All Nevada public high school seniors are eligible to apply. Nevada high school graduates interested in studying political science, German language, or a German-related field are eligible for the award. Students who desire to study at a German university are also eligible to apply. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required of applicants. The deadline to apply is January 31st. Learn more here. 

This creates opportunities for students to access, complete, and succeed after post-secondary education in order to create future leaders. High school students are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is January 19th. Learn more here. 

The Foundation’s Trustees and Members think that if our country is to continue to grow, we need well-trained, committed young people to carry on our government’s efforts in the future, which is why they will be awarding students completing 12th grade to help them with their education. Applicants for the scholarship must be citizens of the United States. The deadline to apply is January 15th. Learn more here.

  • Silver Scholar Program is a scholarship program for first- and second-year law school students that aims to broaden the diversity of the legal profession. Silver Scholars will be offered a summer associate job at Proskauer and will be eligible for a financial reward of up to $30,000, which will be paid out in stages. February

This creates further awareness and appreciation of western arts, culture and heritage in college-age Nevadans through recognition of outstanding potential, contributions and skill in the creative arts. This scholarship awards $2,500. Applicants are required to submit a Reno Rodeo Foundation scholarship application and an addendum, which requires applicants to answer 4 extra questions and applicants must also submit three samples of art that support the rich western culture, tradition and heritage. Accepted applicants may receive up to $3,000. This scholarship is not renewable, however, applicants can re-apply for up to 4 years. In order to be eligible, you must be dependent son or daughter of a full-time or part-time employee of Simon Property Group who has been employed for at least one year, be 23 years old or younger, Be a high school senior or current college student planning to enroll in full-time; undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. This awards $1,500 dollars. In order to be eligible, applicants must be multiple birth students (twins, triplets, or higher) or a mother of multiples. Furthermore, applicants must show financial need and  be a senior in high school with plans to attend college or a student currently attending a college or a Mother of multiples currently attending or planning to attend a college. This awards both need based and merit scholarships. The amount varies. Applicants must be a graduating senior or graduate from the Huntington Beach Union High School District in Southern California, a graduating senior or graduate from the Washoe County School District in Northern Nevada, or a graduate or current student from one of the qualifying colleges. This is valued up to $10,000 a year, renewable for up to 5 years. To remain eligible once enrolled in college, students must meet minimum annual requirements and complete a short renewal application each year to determine continued eligibility. To remain eligible, a student must also maintain continuous full-time enrollment, with summer attendance optional. The deadline to apply is February 26th. Learn more here.

This awards $5,000 and is open to international and U.S. students who are in their final two years of undergraduate study or are in graduate programs at a LAAB-accredited institution. Students must be studying landscape architecture with a demonstrated interest and aptitude in the design of play environments.The deadline to apply is February 1st. Learn more here.

March

These are awarded annually to the students that demonstrate the strongest Financial need and hardship, Passion for finance, Determination to improve the lives of others through their career. The deadline to apply is March 31st. Learn more here.

This awards college scholarships to Windward residents with priority given to women of diverse and disadvantaged circumstances or to those who are returning to higher education after a hiatus. The grants are to be used for educational expenses at a regionally accredited, post-secondary institution in the state of Hawai’i. Grants are paid directly to the institution after verification of acceptance of the recipient. The grant is for study at the undergraduate level only, for use in the year in which it is awarded.   • Horatio Alger Nevada Scholarship Program awards six $1,000 scholarships  to high school seniors with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher who demonstrate critical financial need and are residents of Nevada. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Learn more here.

 

April

This offers $1,000 in scholarship awards for high school seniors planning to attend college as a full-time, degree-seeking student. Applicants must reside in California, Washington, Illinois, Nevada, Maryland, Massachusetts, Texas, New York, and New Jersey. Must plan to attend a U.S. Accredited 4-Year College/ University or a Community College in those states as a 1st year student in the fall of the year the scholarship is awarded. Furthermore, Applicants must also have a high school GPA of 3.0 and a household income at or below the Low Income Level. NO major or ethnicity requirement. Employees of Cathay Bank and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is April 3rd. Learn more here.

This gives out scholarships worth up to $3,500 to Northern Nevada high school baseball and softball players who want to pursue college education. The scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s financial need, academic performance, extracurricular activities, participation in a high school baseball or softball program and their desire to earn a college education. In order to apply, applicants are required to write an essay consisting of 500 words or less about their high school experience, college goals, career plans and how this scholarship will be helpful towards them. This awards first year Law students. The mission of the program is to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance to attend and complete law school. The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship grants 10 – 20 incoming diverse law students with $15,000 of financial aid over their three years in law school. The deadline to apply is April 17th. This is open to all first generation students. This scholarship awards up to $2,500 to its recipients. IFSA scholarships are funded by the Institute for Study Abroad, an organization that helps students travel the globe and study at international colleges. This scholarship covers  costs such as flights, passport fees, visa application fees, and housing. Applicants must submit a resume and a 500-word personal essay detailing their dreams and goals as the first person in their family to go to college. The deadline to apply is April 1st.   • ESA Youth Scholarship awards $7,500. The public safety sector collaborates with the electronic security business. to help the community. Students who live in one of the participating states must compete in their local ESA Chapter honors in order to be considered for the national awards. Students who live in a state where there is no ESA chapter or who live in a non-participating state should apply directly to ESA. In addition, students must submit a 500-1,000 word essay answering the question: “What it means to me to have my parents/guardians involved in securing our community.” The deadline to apply is April 14th. May

This award $10,000 in scholarships. This scholarship is available for American Indian high school seniors with a GPA of 3.0  or higher. These students must also reside in one of the 23 states serviced by the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Pacific Corporation and its affiliated companies. These states include Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Arkansas, Louisiana, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin, or Iowa. This gives out up to $5,000 to undergraduate and graduate students stepping outside traditional clinical-related professions for administration. Applicants need to submit a brief narrative, resume, transcript, and three recommendations. The deadline to apply is May 27th. Learn more here. 

This is a higher education program whose goal is to financially assist qualified applicants who are enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university. The deadline to apply is May 1st. Find out more here. 

  • Marian R. Delano Memorial Scholarship awards $1,500. Female applicants who are members of the Southwest Section of Ninety-Nines (Arizona, California, Hawaii, Utah, Nevada) and are pursuing a private pilot license or advanced certificate or rating are eligible for this award. The deadline to apply is May 31st. Find out more here. 



  • Person-to-Person Scholarship Program provides emergency assistance for basic needs, and support for individuals and families as they move towards stability. Person-to-Person’s goal is to create a community of financially-stable, hunger-free homes, with educational opportunities for all. They have a basic application that must be completed in order to apply. The deadline to apply is May 11th. Learn more here. 

 

  • The Quirk Law Firm, LLP First Generation College Scholarship is available to incoming freshmen and college students who will attend a college, community college, 4-year college/university or law school and whose parent(s) did not complete any post high school education. June

July

The Woodley family, colleagues, and organizations have contributed to an endowment that supports this scholarship. Students must apply and be nominated by a VirginiaCAN member group that has been active for at least two years. Significant volunteer activity, financial necessity, and the quality of a student-submitted essay, as well as academics, are all considered in the selection process.The deadline to apply is July 2nd . August

  • William N. and Myriam Pennington Foundation Scholarship is for freshmen – seniors in college primarily based in Nevada. They give out multiple awards and the amount varies. The deadline to apply is August 4th. Find out more here. 

 

  • MCC Scholarships early awards is an application-based scholarship opportunity available to Metropolitan Community College students throughout the academic year. Scholarships may be awarded based on financial need, academic progress, program of study or a combination of these factorsThe deadline to apply is August 1st. Learn more here.

 

  • Davis-Chambers Scholarships. This scholarship gives out a minimum of $2,000 but depending on the applicant’s qualifications the max can go up to full tuition. Selection is based on financial need, student’s academic profile, and demonstrated knowledge and experience with people from diverse communities and backgrounds. September

This award gives out $2,000 and is available for U.S. college sophomores or juniors who attend a college or university in one of the following areas: Northern California (Visalia to the Oregon border); Hawaii; or Reno, Nevada. Students must pursue a career in media production, with one or more years of school left to complete. The deadline to apply is September 1st. Learn more here.

October

This collaborates with 11 Western states and territories to provide tuition help to students pursuing careers in 10 health fields ranging from optometry to dentistry to veterinary medicine. Through  WICHE PSEP, a student can save $32,000 to $130,000 on tuition over the duration of their health degree study. The deadline to apply is October 15th. Learn more here.

This will award 150 scholars with a $20,000 scholarship. This is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. The deadline to apply is October 2nd. November

The Dean’s Scholarship is a four-year Indiana University Academic Scholarship offered to first-time incoming freshman out-of-state students who have excelled academically. Their award amount ranges from $1,000 – $8,000. The deadline to apply is November 1st.  Learn more here.

This is an undergraduate scholarship program for high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who want to attend and graduate from the top four-year colleges and institutions in the country. The deadline to apply is November 16th. Learn more here

  • Kendyl Ruth Williams Depoali Scholarship This scholarship targets teachers in the Washoe County School District who are seeking advanced degrees. In order to be eligible,  you must be currently employed as a full-time teacher in the Washoe County School District System at the secondary level , you must have your bachelors degree, and you plan on continuing your education at University of Nevada-Reno. Applicants must be pursuing advanced degrees from either the College of Liberal Arts or the College of Sciences. The deadline to apply is December 31st. Learn more here.

 

  • Bervin Hall Memorial Scholarship awards $1,000 to college juniors or graduate students who are pursuing a degree in occupational safety and health, or a closely related field. Priority will be given to an applicant who resides in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah or Wyoming. The deadline to apply is December 1st. Learn more here.

 

Deadlines Vary

This gives out $51,000+ in scholarships.  In order to apply, you must be a United States citizen or permanent resident with a permanent address in one of the following US states or territories: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Island. Furthermore, you must have a GPA of 3.4 from high school, and maintain a 2.5 for renewal.The deadline varies depending on which semester you apply for. Learn more here.

This gives out $20,000 in scholarships. This loan repayment program is only offered to highly qualified applicants entering the Army. The Army will refund a portion of a Soldier’s qualified student loans under the LRP. The deadline varies. Learn more here.

This is available for residents of any state, excluding Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The deadline varies. Admitted freshmen are considered for these scholarships based on an overall assessment of the application for freshman admission. The applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. This is a merit-based scholarship for incoming students at the University of New Mexico who are non-resident applicants. Residents of  Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming  are eligible to apply. The scholarship is renewable for four years if 15 credits are completed each semester and a 3.0 GPA is maintained. The deadline varies. Learn more here.

This is a merit-based award for new students at the University of New Mexico who are non-resident applicants. Residents of  Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming are eligible to apply. A cumulative 3.0 GPA is required, as well as an ACT score of 19 or a SAT score of 990. The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education administers a regional tuition-discount arrangement. WUE allows students from one of 16 WICHE states and territories in the Western United States to enroll as nonresidents in one of 160+ participating public colleges and universities and pay 150 percent or less of resident tuition. This scholarship is awarded to up to 3 incoming University of Nevada, Reno freshmen at $500 each for the fall semester of every academic year. The award is based on the student’s community/leadership involvement, personal background and need. This is a one-time scholarship and recipients must attend the University of Nevada, Reno. This awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities.Students must attend an accredited K-12 school in the United States. An interested student must be nominated by an educator at his or her school to be able to compete for a Carson Scholarship. Only one student from each school is able to apply, ensuring that each nominee epitomizes academic excellence. Carson Scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. This offers workshops, career guidance, tutoring sessions, and interning opportunities, and it can be renewed every year for a total of four years. You’ll need to meet additional criteria for renewal, including a good academic record and a number of volunteer hours, but it’s a fantastic program for dedicated college students who are serious about making something of themselves.
